Ridewell's Lightweight Auxiliary Axle Suspension System

Ridewell Suspensions has developed a new self-steering, liftable auxiliary axle suspension system. The model 232 has a capacity rating of 13,200 lbs. and is both air-ride and air-lift. The system includes a lightweight, fully integrated axle and weighs in at less than 800 lbs. The suspension's simple structure reduces complexity, increases strength and optimizes weight.

Key features of Ridewell's 232 include:

· A compact mounting envelope as low as 21.9" from the center of the spindle to the leading edge of the hanger;
· A one-size-fits-all system that easily adjusts to various frame widths and ride heights;
· 10" of up travel that can easily be optimized for various ride heights;
· Urethane bushings;
· High tensile steel; and
· 28 degrees of wheel cut.

Ridewell engineers started with a blank computer screen and the objective of developing the best possible combination of weight reduction and durability in an all steel self-steering lift axle suspension. Their success is well demonstrated by the final weight of only 773 pounds, complete with light weight hubs and drums.

Advanced computer design tools resulted in a structure that reduces complexity and increases strength while optimizing weight. Additionally, the unique Flex-Trac system is ideal for the aftermarket installer with built-in flexibility for a range of ride heights and frame widths.
